Why This is the BEST Time of Year to Start a New Workout Routine

I’m going to be honest; I am terrible when it comes to exercising. I’m one of those people that says they’re too busy, they have no time, they want to sleep in, blah, blah, blah. I despise working out and today I’m going to tell you why this is the best time of year to start a new workout routine. ‘Cause guess what? Everyone is busy!

Have you heard the saying: if you want something done ask a busy person to do it? It’s kind of funny how the busier we are, the more we actually squeeze onto our plate and get done during the day. You might think the holiday season is a terrible time to start a new workout routine, but I disagree. When I begin a new program, I have to be all in. None of that “I’m going to try and work out 4-5 days a week” bull crap. For me, I need to have a firmly set schedule. A 30, 60, or 90 day program that is perfectly laid out for me that I have to stick to. The last program I did was Insanity Max:30 and I loved it. Well, I didn’t actually love it, but it really worked for me. It’s a 60 day workout program and I knew I had to stick to it or I’d feel badly about skipping a day. Anyone else like that?

Just think about all of the holiday parties you’ll be attending and how amazing you want to feel in them. I know I want to be confident and proud of my body, don’t you? During the holidays we tend to eat more and exercise less, which leaves us feeling terrible about ourselves and why we generally gain a few pounds during these last couple of months. Well, I’m done feeling tired and weak! And I don’t want to feel like that during the most magical time of year, do you? That is why I believe this is the BEST time of year to start a new routine. Like I said before, we’re all busy! So why not now? Crank it up a notch if you’re already working out regularly, set more difficult goals and hold yourself to them. Now is the time to finish the year strong!

So, with that being said, I am committing to begin a new workout routine November 1st (which is one week from today). I am committing to 60 days which means that all through the holiday season, instead of feeling gross and tired, I’m going to feel accomplished and fit! I’m not going to lie; it’s going to be extremely hard for me. I haven’t stuck to a routine in probably 3 years. (Terrible, I know.) So who’s with me? By the time our 60 days is over, it will be the beginning of a brand new year and we’ll already be feeling so much healthier. Let’s get a hard start on those New Years resolutions and start now!

And because we all need a new outfit or two to rev up our motivation, I’ve included some of my favorite active-wear pieces for you below. If you don’t look good, you don’t feel good. Right? 🙂
