I’ve gotten so many questions and comments about our recent ski day at Park City Mountain Resort so I thought it’d be best to spell out all the details here for people to reference.
We are an avid skier family so we were super excited to spend the day at Park City, a beautiful resort about 40 minutes east of Salt Lake City. It is the largest ski resort in North America and in 2002, it hosted the Winter Olympics. Pretty cool to have that in our “backyard”! It has over 120 groomed trails, which is amazing to me, because it is quite different from where I grew up. When I was little, I skied at Alpental, a resort in Washington State. It literally had like 5 runs and they’d take about 5 minutes to ski down. Park City is quite a different story. Utah is known for having the best snow on earth, and I couldn’t agree more. With over 40 lifts, you could spend all day skiing and most likely not even ski the same run twice!
One of the best parts about our day, was when we stopped to watch a mogul/aerial competition that was taking place on the side of one of the runs we were on. It was amazing watching them do some of the crazy tricks and how fast they skied down the moguls. Some people are so brave!
Not only is the skiing incredible at Park City, but the views are out of this world. My favorite part of the day was when we took a lift all the way up to Jupiter Peak, which is at an elevation of almost 10,000 feet! The ridge-line was absolutely incredible! And the best part was that there was a run easy enough for the kids to ski down so we didn’t have to miss out on the views because we weren’t expert skiers. My husband, on the other hand, is an amazing skier.
Of course, we took a little “Apres-ski” break and had some hot cocoa and cheese fries in the lodge about half-way through our day. The food was delicious and after having full belly’s, the kids ended up falling asleep on their chairs. We had definitely worn them out. While the kids and I rested in the lodge for a bit, my husband enjoyed some more advanced runs. He’s definitely a thrill seeker and says that someday he hopes to go heli-skiing. Yikes!
As you can see, we had a wonderful time skiing at Park City Mountain Resort and we can’t wait to go back again soon. If you are ever in the area, or need an excuse to plan a winter trip, this is the place to go. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go here?
