Have you guys every tried a crazy makeup look for Halloween? I never have until last year. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even dressed up for Halloween as an adult. A few days before Halloween, I randomly thought it would be fun to do a skull makeup look so I got online and looked for good tutorials. I finally found one I liked and grabbed some white and black Halloween makeup from the grocery store that afternoon. I had no idea what I was in for. Haha!
Unfortunately, the crappy white makeup I had purchased was terrible and didn’t cover fully. It took tons of layers before it finally covered my skin (and this added a lot of unnecessary minutes and frustration). And as could be expected, the black didn’t cover either so I pulled out my black eyeliner and mascara, and thankfully, they did the trick. Now, I am not going to say this is easy or quick. It was far from it, but it sure looked amazing! Everyone was in awe of the skeleton look, especially my kiddos. They thought it was the coolest thing ever and I was so happy I made them smile.
Lucky for you, I have done a little research and found some white and black makeup products that have great reviews and linked them for you below. If you decide to try it, you probably won’t have the same issues I did. If you do notice that the black doesn’t cover, just glob on some mascara and paint it on with a makeup brush. You can also use whatever black liquid eyeliner you have on hand like I did (the one I used is linked).
The only downside once the look is complete, my white makeup started cracking as the night went on (probably because I used cheap stuff that wasn’t very good). Hopefully the products I’ve linked won’t have that same result, but if they do, be prepared to not smile all night. 🙂
And one last note….take your time. If I’m completely honest, this took me 2-3 hours. I could have stopped a lot sooner, but I was so particular and wanted it to be perfect. Just remember to blend the lines and create shadows/depth with the black. It makes a huge difference!
Here is the tutorial I followed for this look. Isn’t she amazing?! So talented!
Have fun and remember to be patient!
